I feel like I’ve been seeing more and more requests for donations lately but honestly that is because so many of my friends are doing such great things. Whether it is running a race for an organization to beat Neuroblastoma or running for St. Jude, these people I know are giving back with their time. My one friend, a teacher, is even putting herself out there for the at-risk youth that she teaches!
I even had a friend for her birthday decided to celebrate with a Facebook fundraiser to her favorite cause. These are all worthy of our extra dollars and that is all you really have to give..just an extra dollar or two. If you can donate $25 great. If you can donate $50 even better but every little bit helps. Hell, if some of these people are out running marathons in this heat the least I can do is support them with a few bucks!
But here is the real kicker – if you can’t donate with your money, you can always donate with your time. I spent a lot of my time growing up volunteering. I love volunteering. In college, I went down to Miami with my Habitat for Humanity branch to build houses over spring break. They just let us do landscaping but that’s a story for another day. 🙂 After I moved to Boston, I spent my time with an elderly blind woman through Friendshipworks. I love donating my time and it is important that we teach our children to give back to causes that do good in the world. I’m going to find a volunteer opportunity that I can take my children to – any ideas?
So, what are you going to do to make an impact?
