New Year’s Resolution 2013

I’m chubby. Not by a lot but I am chubby. I could stand to lose about 10 to 15 lbs.  In fact that was my 2012 new years resolution. 130 is the goal because that was my pre baby college weight. During the first pregnancy I packed on the pounds BIG time. I wont say the exact number but I will tell you that according to the  Black Bear Fact Sheet by Vermont Fish and Wildlife  I was the size of an uncommonly large female black bear.   Sweet, right?  After the birth, my weight went down by about 20 lbs which means I was still quite big for my height around 5’6″.

After EJ was born though I didn’t care. It was enough taking care of an infant and functioning with no sleep. When I got pregnant again I tried really hard not to eat for two ( or three). It worked. A few weeks after JR was born my weight was right where it was after I had EJ.  Again I was too tired and busy  to be concerned with losing weight. Then we found out that JR was dairy, and soy intolerant. JR was still nursing at the time so I had to eliminate those things from my diet.  Have you ever tried to find food that does not contain either Dairy or Soy? It’s next to impossible!!  My diet was salad and homemade dressing, homemade breads, coconut ice-cream, vegan cake with vegan frosting,  from scratch everything (almost), and salad.. Did I mention salad? It was all really nutritious and really great and I lost 50lbs. It felt awesome!

I was well below my goal weight so when the doctor said it was ok to eat dairy and soy again I indulged a little.. Soon the scale started to go back up and up and up. It didn’t feel so great anymore which brings us to 2012.  My resolution for 2012 was to lose the roughly 15lbs  to get me back to my college weight. The plan was setup with charts and check points and an expensive gym membership. Should be easy right?  WRONG.  So hear I am at the beginning to 2013 weighing EXACTLY the same as in January of 2012.   Time to change it up.

This years goal is:  EAT HEALTHIER!  (not Healthy – Healthier).  This will work. It is a no fail goal. I just have to try to make better choices!  So if I have a bad day that’s ok because I can try again tomorrow! The point of this goal is so I keep trying. Besides, let’s face it, what we put into our bodies is just as important as the reading on the scale.

P.S this goal is also for the kids and the hubby. The Try part is really going to come into play with the kids since they don’t like anything green. I might have to go all Deceptively Delicious on them ;)

  1. Great post! Good luck to you and your family. I think it’s great you’re all doing this together and the goal is to eat healthy and not lose weight. It’s a great message to your children :)
